The NI ELVIS II/Emona DATEx Telecommunications Bundle provides experiential learning of telecommunications system concepts using a block diagram approach. With its integrated suite of 12 instruments in a compact form factor, USB plug-and-play interface, telecommunications modeling platform (Emona DATEx Telecoms-Trainer 202, or ETT-202), and ready-to-use telecommunications concept curriculum, the bundle delivers an engaging platform for learning telecommunications concepts through a hands-on approach.

Today’s telecommunications textbooks use block diagrams to describe the implementation of math equations, modulation, and coding schemes. The Emona DATEx Telecoms-Trainer 202 includes basic single-function building blocks, such as adders, multipliers, and phase shifters. There is a one-to-one relationship between the DATEx functional blocks and the block diagram.

Students can build experiments by patching together DATEx hardware blocks according to theoretical telecommunications block diagrams and using NI ELVIS II to supply the stimulus and measure the response. Theory can come to life with real electrical signals as students build and model modulation and coding schemes.

The NI ELVIS II/Emona DATEx Telecommunications Bundle includes NI ELVIS II, an educational design and prototyping platform based on NI LabVIEW; Emona DATEx Telecoms-Trainer 202 out-of-the-box telecommunications concept curriculum; the LabVIEW graphical development environment; and LabVIEW SignalExpress interactive measurement software.
