NI INSIGHT provides a revolutionary way of visualizing and analyzing test data by mapping the information directly on to the 3D test geometry. Using NI INSIGHT, you can import the 3D geometry model of the test object (from CAD or CAE) and map the test data acquired from the sensors on the test object, onto its 3D model representation in an interactive or automated manner. The test information changes the geometry model’s color or deforms the geometry according to the measurement data values, played back over time. This is a very intuitive way of presenting test information and allows one to quickly extract the relevant information and knowledge from large volumes of test results. Additionally, NI INSIGHT can synchronize video or movie playback with test animations.
NI INSIGHT can be used off-line, as described above, as well as on-line, using its integration with LabVIEW. With on-line visualization, NI INSIGHT continuously updates measurement data coming from LabVIEW directly onto the test object’s 3D model representation. This ability to provide on-line visualization which is easy to understand and interpret is very valuable in making time critical decisions.
Another use of NI INSIGHT is to compare and correlate test and simulation data with a common CAD-based geometry model and visualize the difference over time. This allows the design engineer to quickly validate and calibrate the simulation models based on real world test data.
