Quiz Buzzer for myRIO by Crossrulz myRIO Application Using Digital I/O

  • Read and write to digital lines using the FPGA in myRIO
  • Transfer data between the real-time OS and the FPGA in myRIO
  • Take advantage of a fully functional myRIO application

The Quiz Buzzer for myRIO by Crossrulz example program uses the myRIO device to act as a quiz game buzzer. This is similar to the ring in systems for Jeopardy! and other game shows. The current configuration supports up to eight players. Once the system is activated, players have five seconds to activate their switches. The LED for the first player to buzz in lights up. The user interface also displays which player buzzed in.

The switches and LEDs should be connected according to the instructions in the myRIO Project Essentials Guide (see the Resources tab).

This example shows how to program the FPGA in myRIO to accurately sample digital lines. It also shows how to perform simple communication with the FPGA from the real-time OS and interpret the found results.
