Timing and synchronization modules for NI CompactRIO and NI CompactDAQ systems are designed to help test engineers and embedded developers build measurement systems on a larger scale.

The following applications require timing and synchronization modules:
-Structural health monitoring of large civil structures
-Distributed, synchrophasor measurements of an electrical grid (phasor measurement unit)
-Wind farm monitoring
-Data logging with GPS timestamping capability
-System clock setting
-Medium- to high-channel-count data acquisition systems that require more than one chassis

The NI 9467 C Series GPS synchronization module for CompactRIO acquires time data once per second that is accurate to within ±100 ns. When you combine it with the NI FPGA Timekeeper, a time synchronization API for LabVIEW FPGA, you can accurately timestamp each tick of the chassis field-programmable gate array (FPGA) clock.

The NI 9469 C Series chassis synchronization module for CompactRIO and NI CompactDAQ can source and repeat the internal clock used to drive high-speed 24-bit analog input modules. With an NI 9469 installed in each chassis, modules such as the NI 9225, NI 9227, NI 9229, NI 9234, and NI 9239 acquire simultaneously between all chassis.
