Develop an Open, Custom Power Quality Measurement System
The NI LabVIEW Electrical Power Suite helps you develop a custom single- or three-phase power monitoring, metering, or quality analysis application. The following analysis functions are included with the Full edition of this suite:
-Power frequency
-Magnitude of the supply voltage
-Flicker
-Supply voltage dips/swells
-Voltage interruptions
-Supply voltage unbalance
-Voltage harmonics
-Mains signaling voltage on the supply voltage
-Rapid voltage changes (RVCs)
-Measurement of under-deviation and over-deviation parameters
With the LabVIEW Electrical Power Suite, you combine the fixed standardized algorithms from the power industry with the custom capability of a full programming language and modular hardware. When you design systems with LabVIEW software and NI hardware, you have the flexibility to customize file formats, user interfaces/human machine interfaces (UIs/HMIs), web capability, communication protocols, and algorithms.
Add Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) Capability to NI CompactRIO With the Professional Edition
The Professional edition of the LabVIEW Electrical Power Suite, when combined with the NI 9467 GPS time synchronization module, adds C37.118-compliant PMU capability to a CompactRIO system. The flexibility of LabVIEW and CompactRIO creates an ideal platform for PMU research. The ruggedness and ability to upgrade in the field make CompactRIO an effective platform for early smart grid system deployments.
Example Programs
The LabVIEW Electrical Power Suite includes several example programs that are ready to compile and run. These serve as an effective starting point for custom applications because they show how to properly use the VIs on the suite’s palettes.
Supported Hardware
Chassis
-The suite requires reconfigurable I/O (RIO) hardware such as CompactRIO (2M gate/LX45 or larger).
C Series Modules
-The suite meets standard accuracy requirements when used with the NI 9225 (high voltage) and NI 9227 (5 A current) C Series modules.
-Compatible modules include any self-timed delta-sigma module such as the NI 9229, NI 9232, NI 9234, and NI 9239. Due to the lower voltage inputs, these modules require external voltage transformers.
-The resampling algorithms of the LabVIEW Electrical Power Suite are not designed for multiplexed modules, such as the NI 9201 or NI 9205.
