The NI PCIe-8431/8 is a high-performance, 8-port asynchronous serial interface for high-speed communication with RS485 and RS422 devices at rates of up to 3 Mbit/s. NI high-performance RS485 and RS422 interfaces are available with up to 16 ports. The NI PCIe-8431/8 offers flexible baud rates for data transmissions between 2 baud and 3,000,000 baud with better than 0.015 percent accuracy for standard baud rates, 0.5 percent for nonstandard baud rates, and 1.3 percent above 1 Mbit/s.
NI 843x serial interfaces feature high-performance DMA transfers, multithreading, and multiprocessor support. Unlike traditional interrupt-based serial interfaces, you can use multiple NI serial interfaces to communicate with dozens of ports at high rates effortlessly in a single system with minimal CPU usage.
