This configuration of the NI Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite (NI ELVIS) has been defined specifically for teaching Boolean logic, digital electronics, and FPGA concepts in college and university laboratories.
It includes the NI Digital Electronics FPGA Board, which plugs into NI ELVIS. This specialty board was developed specifically for educational use and includes a Xilinx Spartan-3E FPGA. The board is fully programmable with either NI LabVIEW software or Xilinx ISE tools, so educators can teach digital electronics throughout all disciplines.
The NI Digital Electronics FPGA Board includes a breadboard area, where students can build analog and digital circuits as well as test benches with real-world signals. The board includes the necessary peripherals such as LEDs, DIP switches, push buttons, seven-segment displays, and encoders for teaching digital electronics concepts.
NI ELVIS is a modular engineering educational laboratory platform developed specifically for academia. With its hands-on approach, educators can help students learn practical, experimental skills.
In this configuration of NI ELVIS, educators receive:
NI ELVIS II workstation (1.25 MS/s oscilloscope)
NI ELVISmx driver software
NI Digital Electronics FPGA Board
Detachable protoboard
USB cable and connection
Educators can also upgrade to the NI ELVIS II+ system, which includes a 100 MS/s oscilloscope for further measurement capabilities.
