NI-FieldPoint driver software is included free with every NI Compact FieldPoint controller. In addition to receiving this software with your hardware purchases, you can download it from the Drivers and Updates page online (see the Resources tab for the download link).
With the NI-FieldPoint driver, you can quickly create Compact FieldPoint programs using the NI LabVIEW graphical development environment. LabVIEW makes it easy to construct simple or complex applications using an extensive palette of functions and tools -- from simple analog proportional integral derivative (PID) process control loops to high-channel-count hybrid control systems. LabVIEW automatically creates the FieldPoint I/O tags and appropriate Read/Write functions for all local or distributed I/O in any Compact FieldPoint bank. You also can automatically publish the I/O data to the network using shared variables in LabVIEW. With LabVIEW and the NI-FieldPoint driver, programming real-time tasks on a Compact FieldPoint embedded controller is easy.
