The WSN-9791 is not recommended for new designs. We recommend that you instead consider the NI 9792 programmable wireless sensor network (WSN) gateway, which adds increased capabilities over the WSN-9791, including the ability to run local LabVIEW Real-Time applications for data processing, communication with other devices, or integration with human machine interfaces, EtherCAT slaves, local sensors, or the enterprise.
The WSN-9791 Ethernet gateway coordinates communication between distributed measurement nodes and the host controller in your NI WSN. The gateway has a 2.4 GHz, IEEE 802.15.4 radio based on ZigBee technology to collect measurement data from the sensor network and a 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet port to provide flexible connectivity to a Windows or LabVIEW Real-Time OS host controller. The NI-WSN software included with the WSN-9791 helps you quickly configure your sensor network and extract, analyze, and present your measurement data using the LabVIEW graphical development environment.
The rugged, 9 VDC to 30 VDC externally powered gateway (power supply not included) offers -30 °C to 70 °C operating temperatures; 50 g shock and 5 g vibration ratings; and a compact, 2U form factor. The external antenna supports an outdoor range up to 300 m with line of sight, and can accommodate 8 end nodes in a star topology or up to 36 nodes in a mesh topology.
