The NI PXI-8110 is a high-performance Intel Core 2 Quad Q9100-based embedded controller for use in PXI and CompactPCI systems. With its 2.26 GHz quad-core processor; 2 GB, 800 MHz DDR2 memory; and a high-performance 7200 rpm drive, it is ideal for high-performance modular instrumentation and data acquisition applications. Test, measurement, and control applications that are optimized to take full advantage of the four processing cores on this controller can achieve up to an 80 percent performance improvement over dual-core controllers with similar CPU clock frequency.

Use the Inherent Parallelism of NI LabVIEW to Exercise All Four CPU Cores
As major chip vendors continue to add more CPU cores to their processors, it is challenging to create applications with traditional text-based languages that fully exploit this computing power. With the implicit code parallelism of LabVIEW graphical system design software, you can take full advantage of the latest multicore controllers, such as the PXI-8110, to simplify multithreaded application development and achieve increased performance.

Reduce Test Times and Increase System Throughput
For applications such as RF protocol testing and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations that require intensive signal and data processing, the time to decode a specific protocol or execute a specific system model determines the overall system performance. Using LabVIEW and the PXI-8110 embedded controller, such applications can distribute the processing load across the four CPU cores and reduce test times.
