NI 951x C Series drive interfaces for NI CompactRIO offer direct connectivity to hundreds of stepper and servo drives.
These motion modules provide servo or stepper drive interface signals for a single axis. In addition, they offer a full set of motion I/O including inputs for a home switch and limit switches, incremental encoder inputs for position feedback, and digital input and digital output lines. The NI 951x drive interfaces include a processor to run the spline interpolation engine and the patented NI step generation algorithm or control loop.
NI 951x modules feature RIO Scan Interface support, so you can use C Series modules directly from the NI LabVIEW Real-Time Module. LabVIEW and the LabVIEW NI SoftMotion Module provide the convenience of programming your motion applications using the high-level function block API for simplified motion profile development. For simple point-to-point motion applications, you can use the LabVIEW NI SoftMotion Module Lite, a free version of LabVIEW NI SoftMotion. To perform more advanced algorithms and coordinated multiaxis motion, you can upgrade to the standard or premium version of LabVIEW NI SoftMotion. You can choose from three C Series drive interfaces:
- NI 9512: single-axis stepper or position command drive interface with incremental encoder feedback
- NI 9514: single-axis servo drive interface with incremental encoder feedback
- NI 9516: single-axis servo drive interface with dual incremental encoder feedback
