The NI 9144 is an 8-slot rugged EtherCAT slave chassis that you can use to add deterministic, distributed I/O to NI EtherCAT master controllers. With standard CAT 5 Ethernet cabling, it communicates deterministically with any CompactRIO, real-time PXI, or real-time NI industrial controller that has two Ethernet ports. You can daisy chain multiple NI 9144 slave chassis from the master controller to expand time-critical applications to high-channel counts while maintaining hard determinism with minimal processor resources.

This EtherCAT slave chassis can be programmed with the NI LabVIEW Real-TIME Module for fast and easy expansion of your real-time system. The NI 9144 slave also has a 2M gate Xilinx Spartan FPGA that is programmable with the LabVIEW FPGA Module, giving you high-speed and customizable I/O timing, inline processing and control.
