With the National Instruments PCI-8254R image acquisition board, you can trigger and synchronize multiple IEEE 1394 cameras without requiring additional digital I/O boards or custom circuitry. This board contains 29 digital I/O lines for synchronizing vision components such as cameras, triggers, and lights. It also contains quadrature encoder inputs, product selection lines, and general-purpose digital I/O for communicating with actuators, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and NI programmable automation controllers (PACs).
Though not required, you can extend the functionality of the NI PCI-8254R board by taking advantage of NI reconfigurable I/O technology. Using the NI LabVIEW FPGA Module, you can customize the 29 digital I/O lines of the board to perform a wider variety of packaging inspection, assembly verification, and robot control applications.
