The National Instruments RF/Communications Lab Bundle (Desktop Platform) includes suggested hardware and software to set up an RF/communications lab built around a desktop PC.

The hardware component of the bundle is the NI PCI-5640R, a two-channel, FM band IF transceiver with power and flexibility that make it ideally suited for teaching and research involving software-defined radio and other communications applications. The PCI bus board installs into a desktop PC and is fully programmable with NI LabVIEW, the software foundation of the bundle. Other software components include the NI Modulation Toolkit, NI Digital Filter Design Toolkit, and the LabVIEW FPGA Module. The Modulation Toolkit extends LabVIEW with graphical tools (VIs) for signal generation, analysis, visualization, and processing of standard and custom modulation formats. With the Digital Filter Design Toolkit, you can specify, design, analyze, and implement digital filters that can target the onboard field-programmable gate array (FPGA) of the PCI-5640R.

Add the LabVIEW FPGA Module to the bundle to target the PCI-5640R onboard FPGA with LabVIEW graphical programming to implement custom communications algorithms that can include filters designed with the Digital Filter Design Toolkit.
