  • Synchronize PXI systems using GPS, IEEE 1588-2008 (IEC 61588:2009), or IRIG-B
  • Available for PXI systems (PXI-6682) and for PXI Express systems (PXI-6682H)
  • Onboard high-stability 10 MHz TCXO (1 ppm)
  • Onboard routing of internal and external clock and trigger signals
  • Can be used as PXI slot 2 star trigger controller (not available on PXI-6682H)
  • Supports active GPS antenna

The NI PXI-6682 and PXI-6682H timing and synchronization modules synchronize PXI and PXI Express systems using GPS, IEEE 1588, and IRIG-B to perform synchronous events. The PXI-6682 can generate events and clock signals at specified synchronized future times and timestamp input events with the synchronized system time. You also can use the PXI-6682 to route clock signals and triggers with low skew within a PXI chassis or between multiple chassis, providing you a method for synchronizing multiple devices in a PXI system. These modules now support the 2008 version of IEEE 1588, also known as IEC 61588:2009. For support of the 2002 version of IEEE 1588, download a previous version of the driver, NI-Sync 3.0, at ni.com/support.

Using the PXI-6682H, you can timestamp events and set future time events on the PXI trigger lines in PXI Express systems. You also can use this module to set your RT system time to GPS, IEEE 1588, and IRIG-B. However, because the PXI-6682H is designed to be populated in a PXI hybrid slot in a PXI Express system, it cannot directly replace the 10 MHz clock through the backplane or drive the PXI star trigger. The PXI-6682H combined with an NI PXIe-667x timing module provides this capability. To configure a complete PXI system using the PXI-6682 or PXI-6682H, visit ni.com/pxiadvisor.
