National Instruments offers both hard-drive upgrades and spare/replacement hard drives for PXI and PXI Express embedded controllers. Before the controllers are shipped, NI performs hard-drive upgrades, including installation of the OS and the drivers for built-in peripheral I/O (and NI application and driver software with the purchase of Factory Installation Services). Upgrade hard drives include higher capacities and solid-state (flash). Spare/replacement hard drives are the same models as those shipped on the controllers. They are blank (no OS) and include installation instructions. Controller hard drives are field-replaceable and the controller warranty is not voided.
