Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) is included for FREE with every device that the Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) application programming interface (API) supports. You have always been able to download the latest version of Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) for FREE, and now you can order copies of the latest software CDs.

Use Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) data acquisition driver software if you have a device that is not supported by NI-DAQmx (such as an AT E Series multifunction DAQ device); if you are using a version of National Instruments LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Measurement Studio earlier than Version 7.0; or if you are upgrading from NI-DAQ 6.9.x and have existing applications that you do not want to port to NI-DAQmx now.

The latest National Instruments measurement services and driver software is NI-DAQmx. Developers should use NI-DAQmx when creating applications for Microsoft Windows. Developers creating applications for Linux or Mac OS X systems should use NI-DAQmx Base, the National Instruments multiplatform driver with a subset of NI-DAQmx functionality. Developers who need to create their own custom drivers should use the NI Measurement Hardware DDK (Driver Development Kit).
