The National Instruments cFP-1808 network interface module connects a node of up to eight Compact FieldPoint I/O modules to a high-speed Ethernet network. With up to 100 Mb/s data communication rates and event-driven communications, which send packets only upon data change, the NI cFP-1808 delivers a high-performance network connection that minimizes network traffic and provides higher throughput compared to polled communications. You can access I/O data from NI LabVIEW through LabVIEW VIs or standard networking protocols such as OPC. The cFP-1808 also features an RS232 port for serial connectivity that you can use to access I/O and configuration for FieldPoint I/O modules through the serial port. The cFP-1808 manages communications between a host PC and the I/O modules; it also provides diagnostic and autoconfiguration features to simplify installation, use, and maintenance. Perform IP address assignment and module configuration using Measurement & Automation Explorer, a menu-driven Windows-based configuration utility designed for ease of use. The cFP-1808 features low power consumption, quick startup times, a wide temperature range (-40 to 70 °C), rugged industrial specs (50 g shock, 5 g vibration), and an improved mechanical layout for easier reconfiguration.
