Not recommended for new designs. Consider using the NI PXI-ExpressCard8360 (see Resources tab) with an ExpressCard interface for controlling your PXI chassis from a laptop.

With the NI PXI-CardBus8310 kit, you control PXI and CompactPCI systems from your laptop computer through a fully transparent link. The PXI-CardBus8310 kit consists of a PCMCIA CardBus card in the laptop, connected via cabling to a PXI module in slot 1 of a PXI chassis. The PXI module implements a CardBus-to-PCI bridge so that you can use PXI modules as if they are PCI boards directly installed in your laptop. For a list of laptop computers that are compatible with the PXI-CardBus8310 kit, view “NI PXI-CardBus8310-Compatible Laptop Computers” under the Resources tab. To configure a complete PXI system based on a PXI-CardBus8310 kit, follow the PXI Advisor link under the Resources tab.
