Data Sheet

The National Instruments PCMCIA-FBUS/2 Series 2 is a 2-port interface for connecting FOUNDATION Fieldbus devices to standard notebook personal computers. NI PCMCIA-FBUS Series 2 interfaces, which connect to H1 (31.25 kb/s) networks, are alsoavailable in a 1-port configuration. NI-FBUS CM (communications manager) software for Windows 2000/NT/XP is included with each interface. NI-FBUS CM provides a very-high-level interface to FOUNDATION Fieldbus devices without requiring in-depth knowledge of lower-level Fieldbus protocols. HMI and DCS applications can use NI-FBUS CM for data collection and control on Fieldbus. Applications for the PCMCIA-FBUS/2 Series 2include portable data logging and field configuration and maintenance of devices and networks.

Upgrade Options
The legacy PCMCIA-FBUS/2 (Series 1) cards cannot work with some 3.3 V PCMCIA controllers such as the O2Micro Cardbus controllers. Because the Series 2 cards have solved this compatibility issue, National Instruments provides trade-in options, under which you can upgrade your legacy PCMCIA-FBUS/2 cards to new Series 2 cards.
