For new applicaations, consider using the new NI-DAQmx-enabled digital I/O devices. NI 6509 devices offer the industrial feature set in addition to 24 mA current drive at a lower cost than the NI PCI-DIO-96/NI 6508 devices. Instead of the NI 6527, consider using the NI 651x devices with bank optical isolation and industrial feature set available at a lower cost. For channel-channel isolation consider using the NI 6528 devices which offer higher current drive and the industrial feature set at the same price of the NI 6527.
