National Instruments offers two options to deploy LabVIEW Real-Time applications to desktop or industrial PCs.
Using LabVIEW Real-Time for ETS Targets, you convert a PC into a dedicated real-time hardware target. With this option, a single-kernel RTOS runs on the target PC processor. Applications developed for this dedicated target are first developed on a Windows host computer and then downloaded to the real-time target via Ethernet.
Using LabVIEW Real-Time for RTX Targets, you add a real-time component to a variety of Windows PCs. With this option, an extension-based RTOS runs on the PC processor, so the Windows user-interface and real-time tasks can share the PC processor.
