In military applications, bulkheads (partitions) sometimes separate the VXI/VME system and the desktop PC controlling it via MXI-2. For this situation, NI offers a variety of MXI-2 bulkhead cables. These cables have a MXI-2 connector on one end and a Mil-Std connector on the other. Either end can have straight or right-angle connectors. VXI-MXI-2 and VME-MXI-2 interfaces connect to any MXI-2 cable connector. A MXI-2 computer interface (such as the PCI-MXI-2) normally requires straight connectors. If you prefer to use a right-angle connector to save space, you can use the MC Connector Extender between the interface board and the right-angle connector.
