Configure Page for: Print PDF Rich Text
  • Gigabit Ethernet interface with transfer rates up to 1000 Mbit/s (1000BASE-T)
  • Compatibility with 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, and IEEE 488.2
  • NI-488.2 driver software for Windows
  • Maximum transfer rates up to 7.7 MB/s using HS488
  • Automatic cable polarity detection

The NI PXI-8232 is a high-performance Gigabit Ethernet interface for PXI based on the Intel 82540EM Gigabit Ethernet controller. It adds an IEEE 488 interface within the single-slot PXI module, saving a slot in your system. The 1000 Mbit/s Gigabit Ethernet transfer rate provides a substantial performance increase over the 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet transfer rate while remaining completely compatible with 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet networks. You also can use the Ethernet port on the PXI-8232 as an EtherCAT master, which is programmed in NI LabVIEW software with the NI-Industrial Communications for EtherCAT driver.

You need a cable to transmit communication signals between devices.
The chassis provides rugged, modular housing for the controller and modules and contains the high-performance PXI backplane, which includes the system's data, timing, and triggering buses.
The controller runs your application and interfaces with your PXI modules.
You need software to interface with your hardware and to collect, analyze, present, and store your measurements. This board is compatible with a variety of programming languages, including LabVIEW, C/C++, Visual Basic, and .NET. LabVIEW provides the easiest integration with all of your NI hardware and is recommended to maximize your hardware investment.
