Configure System 
The National Instruments cFP-CTR-502 is a versatile eight-channel counter module for high-speed counter applications with input signals up to 50 kHz and frequency measurements using the internal frequency reference or external gate inputs. All NI cFP-CTR-502 inputs and outputs are compatible with 5, 12, or 24 VDC signals. The module includes eight sourcing inputs with 16-bit counter registers, complemented by four sourcing gate inputs and four sinking counter outputs, which you can configure to operate in a number of different modes. You can cascade two or more counter channels together to create higher-bit counter registers, up to a single 128-bit counter register with all eight cascaded. You can configure each channel to use one of the four gate inputs, and you can either use the four sinking counter outputs as general-purpose outputs or configure them to change states when the counter register exceeds a set limit.
