The National Instruments PCI-6503 uses a 24-bit programmable peripheral interface (PPI) to achieve 24 channels of digital I/O. In addition, each interface is Plug and Play compatible and does not require a separate card manager for configuration. Each interface works with a variety of operating systems, so you can develop applications that work across multiple platforms. NI PCI-6503 uses the NI DAQmx for easy configuration and reduced time to measurement.
For applications requiring more than 24 digital I/O channels consider PCI-6509. PCI-6509 board is an industrial 96-channel digital I/O interface for PCI bus computer systems. With the PCI-6509, you can input and output at 5 VDC digital levels and directly drive external digital devices such as solid-state relays (SSRs) with current up to 24 mA per channel. Each line can be individually configured for input or output, and no external power supply is required for outputs. Using programmable power-up states, you can configure the initial output states in software, to ensure glitch-free, safe operations when connected to industrial actuators (pumps/valves/motors/relays). Using digital I/O watchdogs, the PCI-6509 can go to a configurable safe output state if a computer or application fault occurs, to ensure detection and safe recovery from fault conditions when connected to industrial actuators. With change detection, the digital I/O device notifies and triggers your software application when a digital change of state occurs (without polling). Programmable input filters eliminate glitches/spikes and provide debouncing for digital switches/relays through a software-selectable digital filter. The NI-DAQmx software technology includes the DAQ assistant to create your application with no programming. NI-DAQmx makes it fast and easy to configure your device and take advantage of all the high reliability industrial features in LabVIEW, ANSI C, Microsoft Visual C++, or Microsoft .NET Languages (C# and Visual Basic .NET).
National Instruments designs and manufactures all products to minimize failures, however unexpected failures can still occur. Extended warranties provide a fixed economical price at the time of system purchase, covering any repair costs for up to three years. In addition, they offer the following benefits:
Significant cost savings compared to individual repair incidents
Fault location, diagnostics, and repair by NI any time the system product fails
All parts and labor costs covered as well as any adjustments needed to restore the hardware to manufacturing specifications
NI recognizes the need to maintain properly calibrated devices for high-accuracy measurements. NI provides manual calibration procedures, services to recalibrate your products, and automated calibration software to calibrate many NI measurement products.
Return your registered product under warranty at no additional labor and parts cost. NI offers fault location, diagnostics, and repair any time the system fails as well as any adjustments needed to restore the hardware to manufacturing specifications.
