National Instruments legacy PCI and PXI boards are asynchronous serial interfaces for communicating with RS232, RS422, and RS485 serial devices. The legacy PCI and PXI boards have been replaced by the NI PCI-843x and NI PXI-843x next generation serial interfaces, which are offered for the same price as the legacy boards and offer increased performance. The NI legacy PCI and PXI boards should only be used when Windows 9x/Me/NT support is required.
