National Instruments offers RoHS-compliant, drop-in replacement chips for GPIB controllers from Texas Instruments and NEC. These chips are 100 percent register- and pin-compatible with the TI TMS9914A and NEC µPD7210 controllers on power up and have additional features, giving them complete IEEE 488.2 controller functionality through software. You can use these chips in your existing designs without modifications or you can upgrade your designs to IEEE 488.2 standards.
