- NI GPIB-140A Series high-speed fiber-optic GPIB extenders achieve up to 2 km separation
- Number of GPIB devices expands to 26 (GPIB-140A Series) or 28 (GPIB-130)
- Software transparent -- no software modifications required
- NI GPIB-130 high-speed parallel GPIB extenders achieve up to 300 m separation
National Instruments extenders remove the restrictions on cable length imposed by the IEEE 488 (GPIB) standard while requiring virtually no desktop space. The IEEE 488 standard specifies that the total cable length for a GPIB system cannot exceed 20 m and that the maximum number of devices is 15. A pair of NI GPIB-140A/2 extenders can extend the cable length to 2 km without compromising the integrity of the GPIB or requiring any application program modifications. The GPIB-140A Series can handle the IEEE 488.2 Find All Listeners protocol. The ability to respond to parallel poll commands is maintained, even at the maximum extension distance. The NI GPIB-130 is a low-cost high-speed parallel extender that achieves separation of 300 m and expands the number of devices to 28.
