I open the properties dialog box for a component in my Multisim schematic however the Edit Footprint button cannot be selected. This issue can arise when you open a Multisim schematic created by another user. If the schematic contains a component that is not in your master, corporate or user database, Multisim will by default grey-out the Edit Footprint button in the component properties dialog box. When I double-click on my Multisim file it no longer automatically opens in a Multisim window. I had NI Multisim and the free NI Multisim ADI Edition installed on my machine.
