LabVIEW TDM Header Writer VIs
TDM Header Writer VIs provide an easy to use interface enabling you to leverage all of the TDM file functionality with binary files created during high speed data acquisition, data acquisition in a Real Time system or existing binary files. Creating TDM files in LabVIEW is very simple with the help of the Data Storage VIs. In certain cases the Data Storage VIs may not be able to meet the application's requirements. If your application requires high speed streaming of data, the Data Storage VIs might not perform at the required speed. In the case that you are using a Real Time system the Data Storage VIs are not available. You might also have existing binary files which you want to easily convert to the TDM format. For these reasons National Instruments has developed the LabVIEW TDM Header Writer VIs.

TDM files are opened as read-only by LabVIEW
Storage VIs, CVI nilibddc and the TDM-C-DLL
if the orientation of the binary files is
scan-wise and not column-wise (normal
orientation when written by NI applications).
Since DIAdem (in most cases) works on a copy
of the current data, this effect can not be
recognized in DIAdem.

TDMHW files are read-only
A very important note left out is that files
created with TDMHW are read-only and
therefore cannot be modified with the data
storage VIs included in LabVIEW
(http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/E70F5DB0BB2B0906862570A6006652B0).
I believe that you can edit the files with
DIAdem, but you are gonna have to pay the
price...
