Establishing a catalyst testing facility in our New Orleans laboratory that required rapid testing of a pilot plant run to demonstrate catalyst efficacy.
The Solution:
Attending NI training, which resulted in an estimated savings of four man months in getting our system running.
At Intertek Caleb Brett, we wanted to establish a catalyst testing facility in our New Orleans laboratory. To do so, we needed to quickly test a pilot plant run to demonstrate catalyst efficacy.
Customer Education Instills Confidence
I have traditionally programmed in Visual Basic and used PLCs to perform most of the control functions for my applications. My previous applications were fairly simple, and because I was running them, I didn’t have to worry about what others knew of the program.
I was a bit apprehensive about writing the control program when I went to a LabVIEW seminar. I soon after took the LabVIEW Basics I and II courses, and now have the confidence to tackle much more complex applications.
We integrated NI Developer Suite and Compact FieldPoint with Windows XP and a Dell Computer. Our system uses analog and digital I/O, as well as serial communications. NI products, especially LabVIEW, are the heart of the project’s control, security, and safety systems.
Saving Develop Time through NI Training Courses
The depth of material covered and the concepts highlighted are beyond comparison to other courses I have had. I learned more about object-oriented programming in this week than I have learned on my own in two years. By attending NI training, I estimate that we saved four man months getting our system running.
