The Challenge:
Design, develop, and deploy a flexible and precise automated testing system (ATE) for operational amplifier production.

The Solution:
Using the LabVIEW graphical programming environment with NI Modular Instruments to create an automated testing system that measures DC parameters of current and voltage feedback operational amplifiers.

About the Company

Pegasus Logic LLC is an engineering company that specializes on realization of integrated solutions for automated process control systems (PCS), embedded automation systems and automated test equipment (ATE) based on NI technologies. The company is also involved in development and design of radio systems and modules using NI equipment. We are a National Instruments Alliance Partner.

Problem Background and Solution

ATE systems are designed to reduce the amount of test time needed to verify that a particular device works or to quickly find its faults before the part has a chance to be used in a final consumer product. To reduce manufacturing costs and improve yield, amplifiers should be tested after being fabricated to prevent even a small number of defective devices ending up with consumer.
Our solution represents a system, which allows to electronic manufacturers minimize and prevent making defective production. The system measure DC parameters and detect failures of operational amplifiers.

The system consists of the following components: measuring and computing complex -based modular measuring instruments National Instruments, adapter, PDB signals built into the adapter and snap with the contacting devices located on the adapter

Hardware part of the system based on the NI PXIe-1085, which features a high-bandwidth, all-hybrid backplane to meet a wide range of high-performance test and measurement application needs. NI PXIe-1085 consists of the following modules: Controller NI PXIe-8135, digital multimeter, NI PXI-4071, two programmable power supplies NI PXI-4110, two programmable power supplies NI PXI-4130. One of the reasons to choose NI hardware was the ability to build the software application using LabVIEW graphical programming environment, which helps to create easily configurable applications in a relatively short time.

Conclusion

We created a universal solution for operational amplifier factories using NI hardware and LabVIEW software. Our solution allows us to measure DC parameters and detect failures of operational amplifiers, which enabled to monitor quality of the production.
